This struggle has been the focal point of an African child
Even before the little bundle of joy is burst into the crazy big world we have
His future has been laid out before him
Without the consent or consideration of the little person in question
His occupation, hobbies, even down to the little hair on his head is being chosen for him.
But yet the little child just want to be a little boy who plays in the rain.
Now this little boy is a teenager, all he wants is to become an Artist because painting and drawing seem to be the foreplay of his reality
But as his thoughts are related to his dear loving parents
His dreams are shunned, crushed and even insulted, for the foolishness he has.
Why would he like to waste his life in worthless beginnings when he can become a doctor, lawyer, banker and actually give his family a name,
The high esteemed reputation it deserves
Like a plague he bows his head to the ground
Like a lost puppy, he throws away the notepad, the crayons, the pencils, everything associates him to the man he really is and decides to put on the role he has been called to play
little by little the passion, the zeal he once had begins to fade away with every passing day
He is finally a grown man with the suit he now wears and the high class banker
The pride jewel of his family name, but yet the unhappy little child inside is still trying to break the little chains that bind him.
But once more his hands touches the empty canvas,
And the way he feels insecure
Because he believes he has lost the zeal or he doesn’t remember how to paint anymore
But as his brush touches the canvas,
All the lost emotions he has held inside spills out,
all he is is let loose.
